Recovering old family recordings made on steel wire

This web site describes how recordings made on steel wire by my Grandfather from about 1949 were recovered to be enjoyed again by his descendants.

Here is the complete, unedited archive of all the wires, in MP3 format. These are now listed on the UK Sound Directory created by the British Library, in an attempt to capture and preserve the nation's sound recordings before the media on which they are recorded becomes completely obsolete.
